While the longest US Government shutdown seems to have come to an end, President Donald J. Trump stands strong on his plan to build the Mexican border wall.
“In a short while, I will sign a bill to open our government,” he said. “Over the next 21 days, I expect that both Democrats and Republicans will operate in good faith.”
“If we don’t get a fair deal from Congress, the government either shuts down on February 15th again, or I will use the powers afforded to me under the laws and Constitution of the United States to address this emergency,” he warned.
“We really have no choice but to build a powerful wall or steel barrier.”President Donald Trump
The shutdown has caused pains all around the United States. All different areas of government workers have not been receiving pay. Workers such as air traffic controllers, air port security, White House secret service agents, US Coast Guard, museum attendants and many more.
“He’s just reopening (government) at his convenience,” she said. “I don’t believe he cares about anything but himself.”Tiffany Cruz, LaGuardia Airport, New York
Trump has stated that the border wall is absolutely necessary to stop dangerously high levels of illegal immigration and criminals. President Trump also stated that he could declare the border problem an emegency, and effectively bypass Congress, allowing him to pull funds from basically where ever he sees fit. A sticky situation anyway you look at it, no doubt.
