Local voters were faced with threats as they attempted to vote today in Vuwani Limpopo. Tensions between local residents have been on the rise as political voting begins. Police have been deployed at other locations across the province as well.
Leaders of the voting boycott have been identified as members of the “Makhado Demarcation Task Team” (MDTT). They have been aggressively encouraging others to boycott the registration process. The turnout for voters thus far has been quite low, the numbers suggest.
“Registration stations are opened but “no one is going there”.MDTT chairperson, Arnold Mulaudzi
“We did our own rounds and the process is still slow. Perhaps it’s that people are still bogged down by some personal businesses and they will make themselves available at a later stage”.Jossey Buthane
